بيان من المقر البابوي بالقاهرة
منذ مساء يوم الثلاثاء ٢ أبريل سنة ١٩٦٨ الموافق ٢٤ برمهات سنة ١٦٨٤، توالى ظهور السيدة العذراء أم النور في الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية التي باسمها بشارع طومانباي بحي الزيتون بالقاهرة.
وكان هذا الظهور في ليالٍ مختلفة كثيرة لم تنتهِ بعد، بأشكال مختلفة فأحياناً بالجسم الكامل وأحياناً بنصفه العلوي، يحيط بها هالة من النور المتلألئ، وذلك تارة من فتحات القباب بسطح الكنيسة وأخرى خارج القباب، وكانت تتحرك وتتمشى فوقها وتنحني أمام الصليب العلوي فيضيء بنور باهر، وتواجه المشاهدين وتباركهم بيديها وإيماءات رأسها المقدس، كما ظهرت أحياناً بشكل جسم كأنه من سحاب ناصع أو بشكل نور يسبقه انطلاق أشكال روحانية كالحمام شديد السرعة. وكان الظهور يستمر لفترة زمنية طويلة وصلت أحياناً إلى ساعتين وربع كما في فجر الثلاثاء ٣٠ أبريل سنة ١٩٦٨ الموافق ٢٢ برمودة سنة ١٦٨٤ حين استمر شكلها الكامل المتلألئ من الساعة الثانية والدقيقة الخامسة والأربعين إلى الساعة الخامسة صباحاً.
وشاهد هذا الظهور آلاف عديدة من المواطنين من مختلف الأديان والمذاهب، ومن الأجانب، ومن طوائف رجال الدين والعلم والمهن وسائر الفئات، الذين قرروا بكل يقين رؤيتهم لها، وكانت الأعداد الغفيرة تتفق في وصف المنظر الواحد بشكله وموقعه وزمانه بشهادات جماعية تجعل ظهور السيدة العذراء أم النور في هذه المنطقة ظهوراً متميزاً في طابعه، مرتقياً في مستواه عن الحاجة إلى بيان أو تأكيد.
وصحب هذا الظهور أمران هامان: الأول انتعاش روح الإيمان بالله والعالم الآخر والقديسين وإشراق نور معرفة الله على كثيرين كانوا بعيدين عنه، مما أدى إلى توبة العديدين وتغير حياتهم. والثاني حدوث آيات باهرة من الشفاء المعجزي لكثيرين ثبت طبياً وبالشهادات الجماعية.
وقد قام المقر البابوي بجمع المعلومات عن كل ما سبق بواسطة أفراد ولجان من رجال الكهنوت الذين تقصوا الحقيقة وعاينوا بأنفسهم هذا الظهور، وأثبتوا ذلك في تقاريرهم التي رفعوها إلى قداسة البابا الأنبا كيرلس السادس.
والمقر البابوي إذ يصدر هذا البيان يقرر بملء الإيمان، وعظيم الفرح، وبالشكر الانساحق أمام العزة الإلهية أن السيدة العذراء أم النور قد والت ظهورها بأشكال واضحة ثابتة في ليالٍ كثيرة مختلفة، لفترات متفاوتة وصلت في بعضها لأكثر من ساعتين دون انقطاع، وذلك ابتداء من مساء الثلاثاء ٢ أبريل سنة ١٩٦٨ الموافق ٢٤ برمهات سنة ١٦٨٤ حتى الآن، بكنيسة السيدة العذراء الأرثوذكسية بشارع طومانباي بحي الزيتون في طريق المطرية بالقاهرة، وهو الطريق الثابت تاريخياً أن العائلة المقدسة قد اجتازته في تنقلاتها خلال إقامتها بمصر.
جعل الله هذه البركة رمز سلام للعالم، ويمن لوطننا العزيز، وشعبنا المبارك الذي سبق الوحي الإلهي فنطق عنه:

Statement from the Papal Residence in Cairo
Since the evening of Tuesday, April 2, 1968 (24 Baramhat, 1684), the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Light, have appeared in succession at the Coptic Orthodox Church named after her on Tomanbay Street in the Zeitoun district of Cairo.
These apparitions occurred over many different nights and have not yet ended. She appeared in various forms: sometimes in full body and sometimes in her upper half, surrounded by a halo of shining light. These appearances occurred at times from the openings of the domes on the church roof and at other times outside the domes. She would move and walk upon them, kneeling before the cross atop the church, which would then glow with a brilliant light. She would face the onlookers, blessing them with her hands and the gestures of her holy head. At times, she appeared in a form resembling a body of bright clouds or as light preceded by the flight of spiritual forms like high-speed doves.
The apparition would last for long periods, reaching two hours and fifteen minutes, as happened at dawn on Tuesday, April 30, 1968 (22 Baramouda, 1684), when her full, glowing form remained from 2:45 AM until 5:00 AM.
These apparitions were witnessed by many thousands of citizens of various religions and sects, foreigners, members of the clergy, scientists, professionals, and all other groups who confirmed their sighting with absolute certainty. The massive crowds agreed in their description of the scene—its form, location, and timing—through collective testimonies that make the appearance of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Light, in this area a unique event, rising above the need for further statement or confirmation.
Two important matters accompanied these apparitions: First, a revival of the spirit of faith in God, the hereafter, and the saints, and the shining of the light of knowledge of God upon many who were far from Him, leading to the repentance of many and the changing of their lives. Second, the occurrence of brilliant signs of miraculous healing for many, proven medically and through collective testimonies.
The Papal Residence gathered information on all the above through individuals and committees of clergymen who investigated the truth and witnessed these apparitions for themselves. They documented this in the reports they submitted to His Holiness, Pope Abba Kyrillos VI.
In issuing this statement, the Papal Residence declares—with full faith, great joy, and humble gratitude before the Divine Majesty—that the Virgin Mary, Mother of Light, has continued to appear in clear and stable forms on many different nights, for varying periods, some lasting over two continuous hours, from the evening of Tuesday, April 2, 1968 (24 Baramhat, 1684) until now, at the Virgin Mary Coptic Orthodox Church on Tomanbay Street in the Zeitoun district on the Matariya road in Cairo. This is the route historically established that the Holy Family traveled during their stay in Egypt.
May God make this blessing a symbol of peace for the world, and a grace for our dear homeland and our blessed people, of whom the Divine Revelation previously spoke, saying:
"Blessed be Egypt My People"
