القمص تكلا عزمي
Toward the end of my elementary education, I wrote a story about two friends—the very first thing I ever wrote in my life. At that time, it was linguistically and grammatically reviewed by the servant physician at the Sunday schools, Dr. Edward Henry Abadir.
I then submitted it to St. George’s Church in Zagazig, where I was born and raised. I was later surprised by a visit to our home from the late Hegumen Takla Azmy, priest of St. Takla’s Church, who presented me with a gift for the story: It was a framed photo accompanied by a tender dedication expressing his veneration for the story, stamped with his paternal signature, the frame of a verse from the First Epistle of our teacher St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians, Chapter 16, Verse 13:
"Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong."
في نهايات مرحلة التعليم الابتدائي، كتبتُ قصةً عن صَديقين، وهي أول ما كتبتُ في حياتي، وقام بمراجعتِها لُغويًّا ونَحَويًّا في ذلك الزمان؛ الطبيبُ الخادمُ بمدارس الأحد، الدكتور إدوارد هنري أبادير، ثم قدمتُها لكنيسة مارجرجس بالزقازيق حيث وُلِدتُ وتنشَّأتُ، وفوجئتُ بزيارة المتنيح القمص تكلا عزمي، كاهن كنيسة الأنبا تكلا لبيتنا، وتقديمه هدية لشخصي عن القصة، كانت بروازًا مصحوبًا بإهداء رقيق عن استحسان قدسه للقصة ممهورًا بتوقيعه الأبوي، والبرواز للآية من الرسالة الأولى لمعلمنا القديس بولُس الرسول إلى كورنثوس، الأصحاح السادس عشر، الآية الثالثة عشر:
"اِسْهَرُوا. اثْبُتُوا فِي الإِيمَانِ. كُونُوا رِجَالاً. تَقَوَّوْا."
