By the grace of God, Bassem "Matthew" Matta is an Egyptian-trained Pulmonologist with extensive experience in clinical research and hospital care. His career includes serving as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant within the walk-in care departments of both Graves Gilbert Clinic and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Matta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) from Zagazig University, Sharqiyah, Egypt.
Beyond his previous clinical work, Matthew is a deacon in the Coptic Orthodox Church and a published author of both medical and non-medical literature through his publishing company, Smiling Lungs Books, represented by Ms. Hikmat Matta, a lady tortoise mascot.
Matthew resides with his wife, Dina, a preschool teacher assistant, and their two daughters, Gloria and Elinor. The family is completed by their purebred Shih Tzu, Aengus.
Hikmat means Sophia!
